Normal maps are a way to fake depth and detail on materials in 3D software like Blender. Blender allows us to use normal maps to create realistic materials without adding extra geometry. Normal maps can be used in Cycles or Eevee. We will cover normals, normal mapping, adding normal maps to PBR textures and more. This is a quick Blender tutorial for beginners. Hey, this is a video that I made to explain normals, normal maps and bump maps, specifically from the lens of blender. I wanted to make this because while there are others in this general vein, I haven’t seen any that look at the whole topic holistically and pragmatically, not just looking at what, but also at why? Here's how to easily make decals without going through cycles baking process.
In this tutorial I show how to bake the high poly details of a sculpted model onto a low poly object with Blender, I use Blender 2.9 but 2.8 would work as well. The process works but in my opinion it is quite tedious and difficult: * Selecting high and low poly both (in this order) * Create the nodes for baking in the PBR setup of the material * Select the node of the image you want to bake to# * Choose cycles as render engine * Check Selected to Active in the bale settings So I decided to simplify the proecess and started a bake addon for Blender. In this lecture, we'll learn baking normal maps in blender 2.92. Normal mapping is a texture mapping technique used for faking the lighting of bumps and dents. Normal baking is the process of transferring normal data from high poly mesh to low poly mesh. This technique is used to enhance the appearance and details of a low poly model by generating a normal map from a high poly model. It is very useful, because you can add more detail to your model without increasing number of polygons. Let's see how to bake normal maps. 1)Intro 00:00 2)Adding High Poly and Low poly mesh 0:57 3)Creating normal map image 4:30 4)Adding the normal map image to Low Poly mesh 5:21 5)Baking Normal Map 5:53 7)Fixing baking problems 7:07 #bakingnormalmap,#baketexture,#normalbaking

In this Blender 2.91 texturing tutorial I show how to bake the normal map for my hard surface sculpting, the stone, to that I sculpted the details in the previous part, to the low poly mesh that we started with. The low poly mesh I just automatically UV Unwrap (Smart UV project) and then I use Cycles for baking the normals fom the high poly onto this mesh. To really snap the vertices to the mesh I add a shrinkwrap modifier to the low poly object. ☕️ Buy me a coffee - would be nice: 🤍 See my social profiles here: Instagram: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 Patreon: 🤍 Merch Store: 🤍 Production Music courtesy of Epidemic Sound: 🤍
