Wandering in the world's largest art museum and a historic monument, Louvre Museum. Click here ▶ to see highlights and guide. The Louvre is not only one of the best art museums in the world, it’s also one of the biggest. There are 35,000 objects on display out of a collection of 380,000. This walking tour features part 1 of the Louvre Museum in Denon Wing. First, a walk around before accessing the museum floor. Further on, a great display of the Greek and Roman antiquities and its famous statues; Aphrodite, Vénus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace and The Virgin and Child with four Angels . Followed by the decorative arts (paintings) area from Spain, France, Italy including the Mona Lisa. Unfortunately, the day that I recorded this virtual tour, it was extremely busy due to bad weather. The Field Museum in Chicago preserves everything from fish and snakes to frogs and Komodo dragons in their basement. These 11 million fluid specimens are preserved in jars or tanks. Preparing and storing them is a centuries-long commitment, so why do it? This method effectively keeps their shape and, in some cases, even DNA. Not only that, but it has helped researchers do groundbreaking work, like developing new techniques for getting old DNA and discovering new species right among the shelves. Im going to give you guys a quick history lesson about the WWII Nazi and Holocaust. I dont think any of you are going to see a better collection then what I have in this room! There is a so much history in the room its unbelievable, and I keep getting more and more. I now have 28 rooms in my 75,000 square foot building, which covers wars from WWI to Afgahnistan. We also have 92 running military vehicles, over 5000 helmets, over 4000 flags, over 2500 firearms, and a room for every country the U.S. was in a war with from WWI to present. My museum has to be one of the best in the United States! 95% of everything in the museum is operational. We give museum tours every Sunday at 10am. The Norwegian capital Oslo is getting a new national museum for classical and modern art, architecture and design. The museum's collection includes around 100,000 objects, ranging from medieval tapestries to modern design classics and contemporary artworks. It is located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and opened on April 8, 2010. It is built half-scale to the original ship. Similar to the one in Branson, Missouri, the museum holds 400 pre-discovery artifacts in twenty galleries. It is the largest permanent Titanic museum in the world. The structure is built in a pool to create the illusion of the Titanic at sea, and the 2-hour, self-guided tour is designed to give guests the sensation of being an original passenger on the Titanic's 1912 maiden voyage. As guests enter, they are given a passenger boarding ticket. On this ticket is the name of an actual Titanic passenger and the class they were traveling. Guests will learn the individual stories of several passengers. In the Titanic Memorial Room, they will find out whether their ticketed passenger survived. The structure cost $25 million to build.

In recent years, many of the countries missing their cultural heritage have been asking for some of these items back. Benin City in Nigeria is one of those places. They've been calling for the return of the Benin Bronzes, hundreds of artifacts looted in 1897 when British soldiers embarked a punitive expedition to Benin. Many are now housed in the British Museum. And it's just the beginning. As the world reckons with the damage inflicted during Europe’s colonial global takeover, the calls for these items to be returned are getting louder and louder. And it was well-documented that Charles did not want his body displayed in a museum but wanted to be buried at sea. Despite his wishes, an anatomist seized Charles’s body and displayed his skeleton 3 years after his death. And it was displayed until the museum closed for renovations five years ago. May 18th is International Museum Day! In honor of today, Jared letterpress printed two photo engravings of our museum’s current logo and monogram. The Sacramento History Museum first opened in 1985 and we’ve gone through many logos over the years. What has stayed the same is what we do. We focus on Sacramento history and the California Gold Rush. Over the last couple of years though our audience has changed. We are no longer a local museum catering to just in person visitors. We have another audience, those who watch our videos from wherever they are in the world and we are incredibly thankful for all of you.
