I recently purchased a Fender Custom Shop 62 HSS guitar, I love the guitar but I cannot get on with the humbucker in the bridge position which is a Seymour Duncan JB. The Seymour Duncan JB is essentially a high output pickup measuring 16.4k. I used to own a couple of Suhr guitars with Thornbuckers and I loved everything about the tone of these pickups as they are low output measuring at 7.9k what I decided to do was to change the pickups and film the before and after the process. Este video fue realizado por Tincho Dichiera para mostrar el set de micrófonos GF Pickups que hicimos a medida para su guitarra Marcos Vera Con Tincho estamos trabajando en conjunto hace ya un tiempo, ayudándonos mutuamente, cada uno con su experiencia y conocimiento. En esta ocasión armamos un set SSH. En la posición puente hicimos un humbucker de Alnico 5 modelo HB Plus S. Un micrófono con un plus de ganancia (sin llegar a ser hi gain) y con bobinas asimétricas. Esto le permite mantener un buen nivel de ganancia y frecuencias graves al pasarlo de doble a simple bobina. Para las posiciones medio y mango hicimos unos Real Vintage '54 Custom. Tomamos unos RV'54, utilizamos polos de Alnico 3 de 16,5mm de altura y 5mm de espesor (no se respeto el staggered original vintage para que suene parejo en volumen en esta guitarra que tiene radio14") y aumentamos un 10% el nivel de ganancia. La idea era generar un set que suene parejo en volumen y respuesta de agudos (teniendo en cuenta que es un set SSH) y que funcione bien con un potenciómetro de volumen de 500k. Estamos muy conformes con el resultado y espero que a ustedes también le guste. Este proceso de elaboración a medida lo aplico para todos y cada uno de mis clientes. La idea es armar el o los micrófonos que necesites y que funcionen como vos quieras en tu contexto.

A short discussion of HSS Strats and balance issues between single coil pickups and Humbuckers. I have found that 300k pots are the best value to split the difference between singles and Humbuckers. What do you think?

🤍 EMG SA (neck and middle) in a Warmoth 7/8 S-style guitar. Fender Custom Shop '69 in a 90's Fender Japan 60's reissue Strat. Clean sounds: Wampler Ego Compressor - Hughes and Kettner Statesman Dual EL34 (clean channel) - Celestion Creamback G12m65 - Shure Sm57 and Warm Audio Wa-47jr. Dirty sounds: Wampler Ego Compressor - Boss OD3 - Hughes and Kettner Statesman Dual EL34 (clean channel) - Celestion Creamback G12m65 - Shure Sm57 and Warm Audio Wa-47jr. All settings are identical on both guitars. Clean volume is ballanced out after recording, since the EMG's are much hotter. In my opinion there is a BIG tonal difference. The EMGs sound almost like humbuckers compared to the '69s. Thanks for watching, and let me know what you think!
